Bayer shared, “Franz is an incredible mentor, and he has so much experience that in any situation he will have advice and he was extremely supportive with me." He further highlighted Tost's expertise in understanding drivers' mental and physical states, emphasizing the importance of ensuring drivers are at the top of their game.
Investing in Driver Development
Tost's philosophy of investing in drivers, particularly those stepping up from Formula 2 to Formula 1, is something Bayer plans to continue. He stressed the importance of providing ample support and preparation for these drivers, including physical training, mental preparation, and simulator driving.
Bayer concluded, “Previous car testing is a very important element, so you need to invest into them otherwise they could come into Formula 1, and it may be very challenging for them.”
