Williams driver Alex Albon started the race from ninth on the grid due to Carlos Sainz's three-place grid penalty. Unfortunately, he lost a position at the start to Charles Leclerc's Ferrari, dropping him down to 10th place.

However, Albon strategically made his only pit stop on Lap 12, switching from medium tires to hard compound ones. This decision proved advantageous as other drivers opted for a second pit stop while he gained track position and climbed up to sixth place.

Although Sergio Perez overtook him in his Red Bull car later in the race, pushing him back down to seventh place – it did not deter Albon from holding off challenges from George Russell, Esteban Ocon, and Lando Norris towards the end of proceedings. Consequently, this secured his second top-10 finish of the season.

When asked about his thoughts regarding this achievement at Canada's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve racetrack—Albon responded with enthusiasm: "It was great. It was super! It was more than I expected of course." He also mentioned finding it stressful but added that he doesn't enjoy such intense races; however,"the team loves putting me in those situations!"

Furthermore,"It was good... there was a point when we were on those tyres... they told me you've got 40 laps left... I thought 'you guys are crazy.' But we made it last."

Albon attributed part of their success during this demanding race due to their slippery car. He explained,"The cool track, I think, just helped keep my tyres alive long enough and good enough for them not to be able to overtake me. I'm super happy."

In Montreal, Williams introduced significant upgrades to their cars. While Logan Sargeant continued with the older spec, Albon was the only driver benefiting from these new updates. The Thai driver spoke highly of his team's efforts and acknowledged that this result propelled Williams ahead of AlphaTauri into ninth place in the championship standings.

"I have to say the work that's been done at the factory to get this upgrade ready has been monumental," praised Albon."We knew this track would suit us and we did put a lot into this weekend; we really put our eggs into one basket, and it's great to pay off."

Albon also recognized their competition with AlphaTauri as they consistently vie for positions in races. However, further emphasizing Williams' success he noted,"Luckily for us... they are kind of in P11 area... so getting these points on board puts us up to ninth now."

Encouraged by their recent performance gain due to the successful upgrades applied by his team at Williams, Albon concluded by saying:"For now, we need to continue with that. The upgrade is working well so let’s see."
